Gripped

What happens when fear takes hold of your life?

For years, Lourdes was trapped by self-doubt, constantly second-guessing every decision. Eventually, she reached a crossroads: remain stuck in silence or take a step toward change. Choosing to release the expectations and criticism that fueled her fears, she found her voice.

In Gripped: Releasing Fear to Find My Voice, Lourdes shares the moments that shaped her, the struggles that tested her, and the breakthroughs that set her free. This book is about releasing fear, letting go of shame and self-doubt, and finding the strength to trust yourself. For anyone who has ever felt silenced or stuck, Gripped offers hope and a powerful reminder that change is always possible—no matter where you are in life.

The Journey To The Right Title

When I began writing this memoir, I explored several working titles: Decide to Matter, Navigating Towards Your Darkness, and If the Eyes Could Speak, Would You Listen? At one point, I thought Second-Guessing captured my journey of overcoming self-doubt. However, as I refined my story, I realized there was something deeper I needed to express.

That’s when I found Gripped: Releasing Fear to Find My Voice. This title reflects the heart of my memoir—confronting the fears that held me back and allowing my previously silenced voice to emerge.

The Cover

The cover of Gripped was carefully chosen to reflect the themes of the book: release, freedom, and transformation.

  • The open cage symbolizes the fears I’ve let go.
  • The bird’s shadow represents the strength and potential I discovered along the way.
  • The glowing butterfly embodies hope and forward movement—a reminder that freedom from fear is not only possible but beautiful.

Gripped: Releasing Fear to Find My Voice will be released on April 4, 2025. I can’t wait to share my story with you. Stay tuned for updates, and explore these topics further on my podcast, Growing Older Together, where I discuss facing fears and overcoming life’s challenges.
